Double Edged Poker, a video game from the people behind Revival
maeyan:
Friends of Revival,
It has been some time since I last posted and as you may or may not have been aware, I have been working hard to produce an original video game title. The fruit of my labour is Double Edged Poker (abbreviated DEpoker) - a steampunk Texas holdem' RPG where players can literally lose their shirt.
Besides myself, Alex2069 has been helping for the past 8 months work on the back end and Prometheus contributed greatly in the initial development phases of the project - in fact he composed the fantastic music you can hear in the video.
This title will appeal to those who love to play Texas holdem' poker. We are only months away from releasing the beta of our game and we have created a Kick Starter project to give our project a initial funding boost. Let it be known that Founding members - you are all entitled to lifetime access to the game with all the limited edition rewards. This is the least I can do for you supporting me all these years. If you are interested in the card deck please express your interest and I can organize a special founders deal where you can receive the deck "at cost".
However, if you were to just pledge $1, each pledge significantly increases the project trend - increasing the trend will gain much needed exposure for the project to succeed. If you could help me spread the word about the Kick Starter campaign through your own personal networks... it would mean the world to me if the Kick Starter succeeds.
Check List:
* Check out the Kick Starter page and learn about the game.
* Like DEpoker on FaceBook.
* Follow DEpoker on Twitter.
* If you think you may like to play the game, register on the DEpoker forum.
* Please be sure to link all your poker friends to the project.I always talked about some day making my own software to would be able to sustain me while I worked on Hellgate projects. If the project gains commercial success and whoever owns the Hellgate IP at the time is willing to negotiate, I will acquire the rights to the game and assemble a team to work on it - no cash shop :-\. My distance over the last year has been due to my full-time involvement in DEpoker and I have way too many attachments here that play at my heart strings.
If you have any questions about DEpoker or want to speculate what we can do with Hellgate in the future, I will watch this thread and be happy to answer any questions.
My kindest regards to you all,
Maeyan, Sam Edge

Grats on the game Sam and so good to see you post again. We have all missed you. You are the soul of this community. More so, its great to see you bang this project out in a timely fashion. You are one of my top 5 the most motivated avatars on the internets. It all nearly inspires me to get back to painting pinups again. There is little joy in life without the act of creation, the cheapest anti depressant.
Watched the vid on kickstarter and my first thought is... do the avatars for DE poker all look just a little like you?
I am not really a poker guy but I would still be interested in checking this out simply on the basis of the source. I just quit a job :( (over "asshole" issues) but once i am financially stable I would throw down for your dreams. Not so much for poker, but in the spirit of creation. When does the kickstarter event end? What is your financial goal?
derp........."This project will only be funded if at least $20,000 is pledged by Wednesday Jan 16, 6:07am EST." shit i need a job.
Super elated that you still are interested in working on hellgate again. Naga has made some great breakthroughs (much respect) but in retrospect I still prefer the more purist approach you took with the 1.5 series (crashes and lack of molly are the only thing that made it feel incomplete.)
I would hope, with development breakthroughs having come as far as they have, that you nearly reinvent the hellgate ip if you buy it since you seem to have a great sensibility for balance and innovation (the new loot system made all kinds of sense to me). I dont believe you would spend so much effort modding and unmoddable (and failed) game if you didnt love the world and gameplay .You got what it takes to make hellgate the game we want to come back to... one more time.
I cant even remember whose project it was, but still hopelessly looking forward to Flatgate! Dont tease me for fucks sake.
The HG ip is such a great world and such a great concept and still no studio has come close to mimicking the sheer chaos of a hellgate session. Even the titans of the gaming world no longer have any idea about what a loot dropping hack fest is all about. Last survivors surely still need some Techsmith to come save our asses. Tag you are it.
Grats to your "Tonto" Alex, who I am sure is worth his weight in salt. (just to be clear, salt was an incredibly valueble commodity in ancient times so this is a complement). I would heap praise on alex but he is just too fucking quiet.
anyway thanks for the "Zarts Considered Opinion". you are a peach. :)
pre-edit: progressively written over six glasses of wine. i hope that was enough butt-kissing that you all wont have to watch face-sitting vids to jack yourselves to sleep tonight. Live for the living or whatever or something.

Zart!! Thank you my friend ... those were some inspiring words and I feel re-energized, I really feel that way. I will do my best to pump a little blood back into the community having come out of hiding now. If painting pinups (are you talking about ladies? :-[) is what excites you, I would encourage to follow that path. I could not agree more what you said about creation.
I reassure you the male avatar body and face are not modelled after me ... you can not grate cheese from my little tummy, perhaps useful for a shallow speed bump. ;D
Yes! Hellgate, we could do things with that game and it is still very fond to me. I am true when I say about acquiring the rights in the future, its a very realistic opportunity ... the poker game being instrumental in this path. We did do some silly things with the mod in the early days but with the source ... where to begin.

Nice roll on Hellgate lore ;) Lol stupid quest...
Next year Alex is going to enter his 4th year of university and will become a Biomedical Engineer ... pretty amazing stuff. He is a busy guy ... I could only get him working with me by paying him ... he's just that busy.
Drink some water dude, hopefully not too much of a head ache tomorrow ... but maybe your just one of those resilient guys ... never one too many!! You put me in a good mood I had to crack a beer myself .. cheers!

Bryan:
I can't say how pleased I am to see this project of yours progress to such extent. My congratulations on your success and,of course, the determination you've both shown to get where you are.
But Zart has pretty much covered me,so I'll refrain from repeating :)
I'm not much of a poker person myself, never even learned to play the game properly.I'll be sure to promote it to whoever I can though, and I'll surely try and support financially as much as I'm able to.
I can only hope the Hellgate scenario will come to pass,or at the very least that a groundbreaking Revival mod will emerge and make us all doubt our sanity for ever playing SP without it.
In the meantime, here's sincere hoping that your game works out in the best way possible.Once again, congratulations :)
maeyan:
Thanks man and thanks for your great assistance in moderation and even throwing up a few community events - that was nice to see : )
If I can get some time off next year - I will touch base with Nagahaku and catch up on where the modification is at and assist in taking it a step further, at least stabilize and balance what content has been converged.
Regarding the Kick Starter, if you really want to pledge, you only have to pledge $1 to REALLY help.. because this will cause the project to TREND and gain a lot more popularity. Just saying, don't think you have to lash out $10 or anything. ;)
See you in the Yellbox ... nice whoever put that there : )
