Below are the most frequently asked questions around Hellgate,Revival,and general modification installations.

Q: What is Revival?

A: Revival is the first series of modifications to HG:L,produced by the hellgateaus devs.While currently on hiatus,the series is very likely to resume.

Q: What is needed to install or create Hellgate: London modifications?

A: All modifications require,first and foremost,a clean installation of Hellgate: London done through a legally owned copy of the game.

Players can create their own modifications using our "Reanimator" tool,found here.

Installing modifications requires varying files,mostly dependant on the time the mod was released (divided here into "older" and "newer" mods for convenience).Both categories are analyzed below.

Q: So what is needed to install an older Revival mod (1.2.1 and prior),or other "older" HG:L modifications?

A: Revival 1.2.1,prior Revival mods and most community mods of the time (most notably,Seferoth's Lost London series) tend to require fewer files,and have an easier installation process.

Note,most modifications come with the creator's own installation instructions in their respective threads.When that is the case,and if those differ from the process described here,those instructions always take precedence over the following.

Needed files

-SP patch 1.2,found in the "Legacy Patches" section.
-The 1.2.1 Launcher (often referred to as the "old" launcher),found here or here.
-The desired mod file itself.Revival mods can be found here,and community mods can be found here.

Installation process

-Download and install the 1.2 SP patch,found in the "Legacy Patches" section.

-Run the game .exe once (either the "Launcher" .exe in your game directory,or either of the .exes in the directory's "SP_x32"/SP_x64" folder).
This step is crucial as it allows the game to create some additional files that are often essential for proper mod installations.

-Download the old launcher found here and unzip it in your game directory.

-Run the install.exe,and follow the installation's instructions.This may require that you locate your HG:L game directory,if you didn't install it in the default directory.

-In the Launcher,select Options>Program Settings>Enable Expert mode.This is not an essential step,but many mods may require it.

-Download the mod you wish to install.

-In the Launcher,select File>Install mod package,and select the mod .zip you have downloaded.

-Select any optional components you wish,and select "next".

-Once the installation is complete,run the game!

Q: What is needed to install Revival 1.5,or other "newer" HG:L modifications?How does the process differ?

A: Revival 1.5 and "newer" mods most often require the "new" launcher and the 2.0 MP patch,as they make use of some/many of its assets.This also causes the process to differ somewhat.

Note,most modifications come with the creator's own installation instructions in their respective threads.When that is the case,and if those differ from the process described here,those instructions always take precedence over the following.

-The 1.5 Launcher (often referred to as the "new" launcher),found here or here.

-Run the game's MP .exe once (located in the game directory's "MP_x32"/"MP_x64" folder).
As with the above,this step is crucial,as it allows the game to create additional files.

Note,said .exes link to Flagship's long-defunkt MP servers.It is of no consequence that the game has no MP servers to connect to; simply reaching the main menu suffices for this step.

-Download the new launcher .zip (found here) and unzip it in your game directory.

-Download the mod you wish to install.

-Run the launcher.exe.Select Utilities>modifications>install,and select the mod .zip(s) you have downloaded.

-Select any optional components you wish,and select "Install".

-Once the installation is complete,run the game!
