faction standing question
« on: Mar 29, 2010; 12:47 am »
how do you get extra points to complete the faction standings.
Before the quest for death mod, i'd always be 300 short from ally in Holburn St.
Now in Covent Garden I have 500 of 501 with everything done, and I take great care to completely clear a stage before I leave it.
I've tried reclearing the level but that doesn't seem to work.
What am I missing?
Me, I\'m just a lawnmower. You can tell me by the way that I walk.

As zen said.
Also if you look before you get the 500, I'm sure(I haven't looked in ages, since standing does nothing), that the maximum is 500(though I was sure it was higher than 500 :? but see previous parenthesis), and once you get 500, it then becomes 501.

I wonder what plans Flagship studios had for faction standings? I have allways wondered it, would be nice that it would mean something.

Originally it was planned to use the faction standings for a few things: Faction specific vendors would only sell better stuff to you when you had a certain "level", other people would only give you quests when they liked/trusted you. The faction displays are there, but were never really used.

Additionally FSS once mentioned, that they were planning on adding quests that allowed characters to equip weapons only meant for other factions, e.g.:
If you reach the maximum level of trust at "Temple Station", a hunter/cabalist can take on a special templar quest that'd allow him to equip swords once he finishes it. In the end we never saw a cabalist station and the feature was never implemented...

The value can be hex-edited to be above 501 which it changes to "Allied" status... At that point... nothing happens in game... So yes you can *do* it, but as Kite said it wont do anything for you in-game.

Actually..... Upon testing.....

Not 100% sure but it seems prices drop by about 10%... at least they seem lower....

How many characters did you test Harrowing?
Did you take any before and after pictures?

No, and No...

Retested to confirm... Prices don't drop.... (confirmed by purchasing and sell the same items over and over again with different faction standings)

So it really doesn't do anything other than waste save file space... and eat up memory
