Hellgate: London (Single Player) > Reanimator
Installing Reanimator and using the Item Trading function
zart:
When trading items I get an error parsing a character file when trying to load 2 of my 9 chars. Is this get-aroundable?
When starting Reanimator, it caches every time ( saying "first time" cache). Is this always necessary? If you just leave Reani running will it cache over time or must you manually update it?
I had a bunch of words but i paired it down to this. Watch out, I will probably have more questions eventually. This is day 1.
Thanks for this tool Kite, being able to trade items in SP is a dream come true, even if I haven't successfully done it yet. :)

Let's see... If you really get a parsing error that means your character file is damaged or incompatible in some way... We could not figure out why this is (might be because of some other previously installed mod, might be because the character was created with HGL 1.0, etc.). I don't know if we'll be able to do anything about this problem or if we'll even have a look at it... We'll just have to see how things work out.
Are you using Reanimator 1.1.0 (from the Lounge) or the "official" release version 1.0.3 from the "File Release" section? As far as I know 1.0.3 still uses the old version of the file caching, the new Reanimator 1.1.0 (and above) won't load all files at startup, but when they're actually needed.
When it is "first time caching" every time, you're probably using 1.0.3 and there might be some leftover registry entries from a previous Renimator installation. Try to open the windows system tool "regedit.exe" and browse to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Reanimator" and delete the Reanimator entry. Now start up Reanimator again and it should load the files correctly.

One char was created pre fun patch, possibly pre FSS 1.2 as well, while the other was created in fun patch 1.0 stable. Interestingly enough both problem chars are engi's, no other classes are affected. I have other super old (out of the box) characters that have no problem loading.
I do have the old version of the Re-ani, the only version I have installed so far, but I will update to the new one, that will only help I am sure.
Good to know you have seen this error before, even if you dont know why it is happening. In game my problem chars play great and nothing seems amiss. If I accidently geek another char for trading, hopefully I will be able to figure out why. Thanks!

EDIT:
Ok I found the problem... The "isDead" flag is interpreted wrongly. If your character dies right before saving, the savegame will mark the character as "dead" and this will be considered "invalid" by Reanimator xD A quick workaround is to just restart the game, load these characters and save right away, so the "isDead" entry will be reset to 0. This will be fixed in the next Reanimator release :)
If this doesn't solve your problem, it'd be nice if you'd send me your two characters for further analyses.

Excellent. That appears to work. You know your stuff Kite! This works for the non lounge release of ReAni.
Another question, in running initially, the Lounge version said "G:hellgatetcv4dataexcelITEMQUALITY.txt.cooked" was not found as well as some others. These files are, however, physically present in the folder. What did I do wrong here?
edit: it appears that the files are viewable, cacheable, and accessible from within ReAni so I think I am good to go.
