i've tried patch from torrent, walked into holborn station after installing patch, nothing seems to help. So the VM is the only option? I've never used it before.

I dont know.
Try check if your patch is for your version of Hellgate client - here isl several versions for various regions.
Try also default installation of game, without change of install destination.

I've managed to get it working - launcher had invalid path. It was using previous installer location. Didn't notice it -_-.

Revival is set to automatically uninstall any previous mod. If you will install Revival first and then another mod without this feature, it should work (but there is still a question of compatibility between this two mods).
Automatic uninstall option can be disabled in script "install.xml":
<revert>false</revert>
